Why does “All participants” show more than 36 clubs?

The league phase has 36 places, but more clubs take part across the qualifying rounds. League phase teams shows that stage's entrants. All participants also includes clubs whose Europa League campaign finished during qualifying. A club remaining in the season directory does not mean it is still competing.

How do clubs reach the league phase?

The entry system combines direct places, teams coming through Europa League qualifying and transfers from specified Champions League qualifying rounds. Entry depends on UEFA's access list and domestic qualification. Use the qualifying ties to follow confirmed results rather than treating every team in a draw as already qualified.
