The Craiova tie that opened the league phase
Ararat-Armenia drew 1–1 away to Universitatea Craiova on 20 August and won the home return 1–0 on 27 August. That made the aggregate score 2–1 to Ararat-Armenia. The margin was narrow, so the return result is best read alongside the first leg rather than as a standalone qualification score.
The league-phase opener is at home to Sparta Prague on 16 September. This is a different format from the Craiova play-off: Sparta are one of eight separate opponents on the league schedule, not the first half of another home-and-away tie.
Two Dutch visitors, four away countries
AZ and NEC both come to Armenia: AZ on 22 October and NEC on 10 December. Ararat-Armenia therefore face two Dutch clubs without a league-phase trip to the Netherlands. Sparta Prague and Celje complete the home programme.
