Jagiellonia beat Rangers 2–1 at home and drew 1–1 away, advancing 3–2 on aggregate. The play-off against Iberia 1999 was wider in margin: a 4–0 home win followed by a 2–1 away victory, for 6–1 overall.

Two October dates in Białystok

Ararat-Armenia visit on 15 October and Anderlecht on 22 October. Crystal Palace follow on 10 December, with Lyon the January home opponents on the 21st.

Jagiellonia begin away to Olympiacos on 16 September. Their other away games are Levski Sofia on 5 November, Sunderland on 26 November and Viktoria Plzeň on 28 January. November therefore contains two away rounds, while October gives home supporters two European nights a week apart.

Prelec's Ibrox equaliser restored the advantage

Rangers drew level in the tie when Shankland scored a penalty at Ibrox. Prelec then equalised for Jagiellonia, restoring the visitors' aggregate lead and leaving the second leg at 1–1.

That response carried Jagiellonia through 3–2 overall. It was the key away-match moment before the subsequent Iberia play-off, and helps explain how the club reached the league-phase programme that now brings Palace and Lyon to Białystok.
