Craiova's path from Kuopio to the play-off
Craiova drew 1–1 away to KuPS on 6 August and won the return 2–1 on 13 August. The 3–2 aggregate win took the Romanian club into the qualifying play-off against Ararat-Armenia.
The new tie began with another 1–1 draw, this time in Craiova on 20 August. Ararat-Armenia won the return 1–0 on 27 August, advancing 2–1 overall. The two 1–1 results on Craiova's page belong to different rounds and different opponents.
Nsimba and Mora turned the KuPS return around
Craiova's home return against KuPS began badly when Gasc scored in the fourth minute. The Romanian side recovered through Nsimba's penalty before half-time, then moved ahead when Mora scored in the 62nd minute.
The 2–1 victory delivered a 3–2 aggregate win and a place in the play-off. It was the successful comeback immediately before the Ararat-Armenia tie, where a 1–1 home draw and 1–0 away defeat ended Craiova's Europa League route. This is Universitatea Craiova's record, separate from Universitatea Cluj's July qualifier.
